Lake Como wedding photographer
A celebration on the lake, a long table with your favorite people, and a few quiet minutes together before the evening begins. Your wedding photographs should bring you back to the experience of being there, as well as the place you chose.
I’m Alejandro Cebrián, the photographer behind Sunnydays. Based in Barcelona and available to travel to Lake Como, I photograph weddings with a documentary approach and gently directed portraits. We can plan everything in English, wherever you’re starting the journey.
A wedding on the lake, with time to be part of it
If you’re looking for a Lake Como wedding photographer, you may already have a particular picture in mind: the water behind you, a villa garden, the arrival by boat. I’d love to hear about that picture. Then I’d ask what you want to be doing for the rest of the day, because that belongs in the story just as much.
The photographs you imagine
We can make time for thoughtful portraits, the setting, and the details you’ve chosen. I’ll help with the light and give you simple direction, so you’re not left wondering what to do. A short, well-placed session can give us something beautiful without becoming the afternoon’s main event.
The moments you don’t plan
Your friend’s reaction during a speech, your parents together at dinner, the first proper hug after the ceremony. These moments don’t wait for a portrait session to finish. I want to leave space to notice them, and space for you to enjoy them.
Hi, I’m Alejandro Cebrián
I’ve photographed more than 300 weddings since 2015. My home base is Barcelona, and I’m available for destination weddings in Italy, including Lake Como. Before booking, we’ll agree the coverage, team, and travel arrangements for your particular celebration.
I speak English, Spanish, and Catalan. We can get to know each other over a video call and discuss the photography without waiting until you arrive in Italy. Tell me about the people coming with you, the traditions you’re bringing together, and the parts of the weekend you’re most excited about.
The wedding photographs on this page are from my portfolio in Catalonia. They introduce my style and the way I photograph a complete celebration; they are not presented as weddings photographed at Lake Como.
Look at the whole wedding, not only the portraits
When you’re choosing a photographer from another country, a complete wedding story is useful evidence. Look at how the photographs move from preparations to ceremony, then into dinner and dancing. These two celebrations in Catalonia show different parts of the approach I would bring to your wedding.
La Baronia · architecture and atmosphere
Explore a wedding with historic surroundings, personal moments, and an outdoor ceremony. Notice how the wider scene and the quieter exchanges sit alongside the couple portraits.
La Roureda · people and celebration
From the garden gathering to the energy of the party, this story shows how a wedding changes through the day. Look beyond the couple and into the people celebrating around them.
A boat ride should feel like part of your wedding
If you’d love photographs on the water, let’s plan the experience before choosing the pictures. I’d want to understand the departure point, the boat, who will be aboard, and when you need to return. Boarding and getting back to your guests belong in the schedule too.
Choose the moment, then the route
A short ride together can make sense when it fits naturally between events. If it would mean missing the part of cocktail hour you’re most looking forward to, we can discuss a different day. The lake will still be part of your photographs from the shore.
Have a shore-based alternative
We’ll discuss an alternative at the venue in case the boat plan changes. The operator and your planner can advise on practical conditions and access. I’ll build the photography around the confirmed arrangements rather than promise a route or departure time in advance.
Lake Como wedding venues to explore
A venue is more than the view in its most familiar photograph. I’d ask where you’ll get ready, which spaces are included, how your guests arrive, and what the indoor alternative looks like. These are venues to consider and discuss with their teams, rather than places I’m claiming to have photographed.
Villa del Balbianello
If you’re drawn to its gardens and lakeside setting, start with the arrangements for the event or session you actually want. FAI states that photographic sessions are paid and require advance booking. We would confirm authorization, timing, and access before building portraits into the plan. See FAI’s official private-event and photography information.
Villa Balbiano
The Heritage Collection presents this Lake Como estate for weddings, private events, and photo sessions. Its gardens and private pier are worth discussing alongside the rooms and spaces in your booking. I’d choose portraits around your actual event layout, not assume every part of the property will be available. Explore Villa Balbiano’s official information.
Villa Pizzo
For a wedding with gardens and historic interiors, Villa Pizzo is another option to explore. I’d look at the route between ceremony, drinks, and dinner before suggesting a portrait window. Ask the venue which areas are available for your celebration and for photography. View Villa Pizzo’s wedding information.
Villa Erba
In Cernobbio, Villa Erba offers a historic setting for weddings and private events. Its rooms and park invite a conversation about both the outdoor plan and the interior alternative. The photography should work with the spaces you’ve chosen and the way your guests move through them. View Villa Erba’s official wedding information.
If your venue is already booked, send me its name and your draft plans. We can begin with that particular property and discuss the light, the preparation spaces, and a realistic portrait route. You don’t need to visit several other villas to give your gallery variety.
Portraits can be quiet, even when the wedding isn’t
Most couples don’t spend their lives being photographed. I won’t expect you to know how to stand, where to look, or what to do with your hands. I’ll help you settle into the light and give you simple direction, with time to let the photographs become less self-conscious.
We can usually begin with a short session near the celebration and consider a few more minutes later if the light adds something different. If you want a longer outing, we can discuss a separate session. That gives the photographs their own time without asking your wedding guests to wait for you.
Where could we take photographs around Lake Como?
I’d choose one small area that fits where you’re staying and how you want to spend the time. Public streets, private gardens, and a wedding venue need different arrangements. For a separate session, these are a few starting points to discuss rather than stops on a single wedding-day route.
Bellagio
If you like a village setting alongside the water, we can look at a compact route around Bellagio. I’d balance the waterfront with a quieter background and check the walking involved. A morning or another carefully chosen time may suit the session better than adding it to a busy wedding afternoon.
Varenna
Varenna is another possibility if you’re drawn to the relationship between the village and the lake. We can choose a short stretch based on your accommodation, the light, and access on the day. Comfortable walking and a place to pause matter more than collecting every viewpoint.
Cernobbio & your venue
If you’re celebrating around Cernobbio, I’d first explore what is already close. A portrait at the property and a nearby lakeside setting may be enough. Moving to another town only makes sense if it gives you an experience you actually want.
The Lake Como tourism destination pages can help you explore the towns before choosing a base. Once you have a place in mind, we’ll check the exact location and any permissions rather than assume that visitor access includes a private photography session.
Planning the photographs from the United States
The first conversation can be simple: your date, venue or shortlist, approximate guest count, and the events you’d like photographed. We can arrange a call in English that works with your time zone. I’d rather understand the celebration before recommending a team or number of hours.
Before you book
You’ll receive a proposal covering the photography, the team, the agreed travel arrangements, and the delivery. We’ll also discuss any welcome event, film, or video you’re considering. Ask questions until you understand how the coverage fits your plans.
Before you travel
We’ll review the ceremony, getting-ready addresses, key people, and a short family-photo list. With your agreement, I can coordinate the photography timeline with your planner. If a cultural tradition or family moment needs particular attention, tell me about it in advance.
When the details change
A transport plan or dinner schedule may evolve as the wedding gets closer. Share the updated timings so we can adjust portrait opportunities and coverage together. A useful photography plan should respond to the day you’re actually having.
The view and the light are two different things
You can love a lake view and still choose to take portraits somewhere else at that moment. The direction of the light, the position of the villa, and the surrounding terrain all change what works. I’d look at the actual portrait location rather than schedule everything around the published sunset.
For an outdoor ceremony, we’ll consider where you and your guests will be facing. For portraits, we can keep a main window and a nearby alternative. If you’re drawn to photographs at dusk, I’ll coordinate the timing with dinner and the events you don’t want to miss.
Lake Como by month: temperature and daylight
There isn’t one table that describes every part of the lake. This reference uses Como town, at the southern end, to help with early planning. Your venue’s position, elevation, and surrounding terrain can create different conditions.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| January | -2°C / 29°F | 6°C / 43°F | 8:01 AM | 5:04 PM |

Temperatures: Climate-Data.org, Como, 1991–2021 averages for daily minima and maxima, rounded and converted to Fahrenheit. Sunrise and sunset: calculated for the 15th of each month in 2027 at 45.8107° N, 9.0863° E, in local time, including daylight saving time. These calculations assume a clear theoretical horizon; mountains and buildings can block direct sunlight earlier.
Choose the setting with the season
A terrace, a garden, and an interior offer different ways to spend the day. I’d ask to see the indoor alternative while you’re choosing the venue, so the photography plan has places you like in more than one set of conditions.
Use averages as a starting point
Monthly temperatures don’t predict your wedding day. We’ll consider shade and comfort when making the schedule, then review the forecast closer to the date. A weather change should lead us to another workable option, not leave us without a portrait plan.
A wedding weekend gives the story another beginning
Before anyone walks down the aisle, there may be an evening when your friends finally meet your family. That first gathering can hold some of the most relaxed moments of the trip. A welcome dinner or drinks by the lake may deserve its own place in the photographs.
We can discuss coverage across more than one day, or keep the focus on the wedding itself. An engagement or after-wedding session is another option if you’d like time together in a different setting. We’ll choose the events you care about and agree the hours for each.
Your Lake Como wedding photography proposal
I’ll prepare a quote for the celebration you’re planning, with the fee in euros and the applicable taxes explained. A wedding day at one property and a weekend with several locations need different arrangements. I won’t assume that travel to Italy is included in a collection intended for a wedding close to my home base.
Coverage and team
We’ll discuss the preparations, ceremony, dinner, and party, then decide how many hours make sense. If events happen at the same time in different places, I can explain when a second photographer would be useful. The proposal will confirm who is included.
Travel and accommodation
The quote will set out the agreed travel and accommodation costs for Lake Como. We’ll discuss the wedding schedule and locations before confirming those arrangements. You should be able to understand the full proposal without having to guess which expenses might come later.
Photographs and optional services
The proposal will confirm gallery delivery, timing, and the included photographs. We can also discuss analog film, a wedding album, or coordinated video coverage. I’ll explain the options so you can choose the combination that matters to you.
Questions about wedding photography at Lake Como
When should we inquire about our Lake Como wedding date?
Get in touch once you have a date or a shortlist of dates and venues. We can check availability and discuss the photography before the full schedule is decided. If your plans are still flexible, include those options in your message.
Are you based at Lake Como?
I’m based in Barcelona and available to travel to Lake Como for your wedding. We’ll confirm availability, the team, and the travel arrangements in your proposal. We can plan the photography together by email and video call before you arrive.
Can we plan everything in English?
Yes. I speak English, Spanish, and Catalan. We can discuss the photography in English, including on calls before you travel. If you have a local planner, we can agree how to coordinate the photography details with them.
Were the photographs on this page taken at Lake Como?
No. The wedding photographs shown here are from La Baronia and La Roureda in Catalonia. They show my photography style and approach to complete wedding stories. You can open the linked galleries to explore those celebrations in more detail.
What does Lake Como wedding photography cost?
I prepare a proposal based on the dates, coverage, team, and any extra events or services. It will set out the fee in euros, applicable taxes, and agreed travel and accommodation costs. Share your venue and plans so I can give you a specific quote.
Can we take wedding portraits at Villa del Balbianello?
FAI states that photography sessions require payment and advance booking. We would confirm permission, availability, timing, and the spaces included directly before agreeing to a session. General visitor admission should not be treated as authorization for wedding photography.
Can we include a boat portrait session?
We can discuss one, subject to the operator’s availability, conditions, access, and the wedding schedule. I’d allow for boarding and the return journey as well as the photographs. We’ll also choose an alternative at the venue if the boat arrangements change.
How much time should we allow for portraits?
A short session close to the celebration is often a good starting point, with around 15–20 minutes as an initial planning reference. We can consider another brief window later if it adds something different. A boat trip or outing to another town needs its own realistic schedule.
What if it rains?
We’ll discuss the indoor spaces and a nearby portrait alternative before the wedding. The venue and planner can help confirm what will be available if the plan changes. We can review the forecast closer to the date and adjust the photography around the actual conditions.
Can you photograph an intimate wedding or welcome dinner?
Yes, subject to availability. Tell me which events you want photographed, the guest count, and the locations. We can discuss a small celebration, a welcome gathering, or coverage across the weekend, with the hours and team agreed for each event.
Do you also offer analog film and wedding video?
We can discuss analog film alongside digital photography and prepare a coordinated photography and video proposal. I’ll explain the team, coverage, and deliverables for the services you choose before booking.
How do we reserve our date?
Send your date, venue or shortlist, and a little about the celebration. I’ll confirm availability and we can arrange a conversation. You’ll receive a proposal, and the date is reserved once the agreed contract and reservation payment are completed.
